LIVING THE CHRIST LED LIFE

Paul wrote 2/3rds of the New Testament and scholars tell us that second Timothy was probaly the last letter he wrote. In this letter, Paul offers some timely advice to Pastor Timothy, a young man who was new to the ministry. In today's jargon, you might say he was telling Timothy to "keep on keeping on":

This is a faithful saying; For if we died with Him we shall also live with Him, if we endure, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us, if we are faithless, He remains faithful, He cannot dieny Himself. Remind them of these things, charging thme before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness." (2 Tim 2:11-16)

Paul reminds Timothy that by living in Christ a person has died to sin an are now living a spiritual life.Today we might say, a saved person is dead to sin and living for Jesus Christ.Paul continues by giving examples of how close Jesus will stay with believers when they continue to walk with Him.

Paul then touches on an ageless problem, arguments. He says they are of no value. His advice is to become a workman for Jesus Christ and put shoe leather to God's Word. His advice on profane and idle babbling still holds true for today. Avoid it before it becomes a habit.

If scholars are correct and this was Paul's last letter, the information he presented was heartfelt. Knowing this , it would be well for us to reflect and react on it in out walk with the Lord.
